Release date: July 22, 2014.

Documented on Post Planetary in 2025.

Written and performed by Faris McReynolds. Violin and backup vocals by Kiara Ana Perico. Slide guitar by Nick Rowe.

Artwork by Faris McReynolds.

The song "The Sea" was written while I was staying in Longview, TX while my grandpa was in hospice. I lived in Dallas until I was 18, but spent the next 20 years pretty much only visiting Longview.

I wrote "The Hardest Part of Love" in my car driving to mix the finished record, and I just threw the whole thing together on the spot. Eric Penna and Ted Scarlett helped me record and mix the violin.

This album took about 8 months, start to finish, and was recorded in Los Angeles and Joshua Tree.

The Sea - Lyrics:

Give Me a Drug that Works Forever

Give me a drug that works forever
Take me somewhere new
Maybe it's worse, maybe it’s better
Give me a drug that works forever

Give me a drug that works forever
Take me somewhere new
Maybe it's worse, maybe it’s better
Give me a drug that works forever

Give me a drug that works forever
Take me somewhere new
Maybe it's worse, maybe it’s better
Give me a drug that works forever

The Sea

The sea did this all with out me
Did this all without me
I don’t mind
So sing, sing this song without me
Sing along without me
Nevermind

The first thing you try never works out right
The first thing you try never works out right

Free, I am not captive
You are not a captive of my mind
Leave, never got an answer
Live without an answer
Nevermind

The first thing you try never works out right
The first thing you try never works out how it should

Epic Dream

Wasn't fit to be anyone
Doesn’t fit outside
Epic dream don’t seem very much
Only in my mind
I’m fcked up, lower than high

Epic dream, come be what you want
Every sun will rise
All you need is dream, little one
Blow it up, alive

I’m fcked up, lower than high

I’m Another You

Feverish things don’t continue
Always fizzle out
Dreaming in scenes discontinued
Not this time, another

Don’t get even, I’m another you
Don’t get even, I’m another you

Bleak limousines come to get you
(Exit out the back)
Pushing up things deep within you
Another to remember

Don’t get even, I’m another you
Don’t get even, I’m another you
Don’t get even, I’m another you
Don’t get even, I’m another you

Flame in the Big Dark

Flame in the big dark
It doesn’t mean anything
It doesn’t mean anything, but guess what?
It’s way beyond the heart

Play me a hit song
It doesn’t mean anything
It doesn’t mean anything, but guess what?
We’re way beyond that part

It’s easier than waking up
It’s easier than faking
It’s easier than wasting out
No wasting out
‘Til I’m done

Play me a hit song
It doesn’t mean anything
It doesn’t mean anything at all
It doesn’t mean anything

Flame in the big heart
It doesn’t need anything
It doesn’t need anything, but guess what?
We’re way beyond that part
We’re way beyond that part

It’s easier than wasting out
No wasting out
‘Til I’m done

All We Are is All

All we are is all
Is all we are is all
All we are is all
Is all we are is all

Pulled from the ocean
Pulled from the sky
Pulled from the ocean
Into the sky

All we are is all
Is all we are is all
All we are is all
Is all we are is all

Perfect, perfect day
Perfect, perfect day

It’s a common love, simple and above words like “you” and “I”
It’s a perfect wrong, simple as it comes
Just one time

All we are is all
Is all we are is all
All we are is all
Is all we are is all

Perfect, perfect day
Perfect, perfect day

The Hardest Part of Love

I thought of love as something I could hold
But none ever goes the places that they long for
Looking up, there’s something in the stars
To lead me through the hardest part of love

The hardest part of love
The hardest part of love

I unfold ‘cause there is just enough
To keep the spirit up
Don’t need it mend it all at once
Looking up, there’s something in your heart
To lead you through the hardest part of love

The hardest part of love
The hardest part of love
The hardest part of love
The hardest part of love

I’m Still You

Don’t get even
I’m another you
This time it’s forever

The Waking Lost

Set the clock on your daydream heart
You’re waking up and taking off
Turn it on, and I’ll make it start
I’m taking on the waking lost

Do it right
Do it right

Love beats down your broken door
Dummy turns away
Come clean and I’ll beg for more
Show me there’s a way

Do it right
Do it right

Set the clock to your daydream heart
I’m waking up and taking off
Blast off to the place we want – the place we are
Our daydream heart

Do it right
Do it right

Wanting Breaks My Heart

Breathe and let it go
All the past burning off
We already have what we want

Didn’t turn to stone
When we passed it up
We can finally go where we are

Floating, am I falling?
Did I dive into the water or the dirt?
Solace in the furnace
Like a mountain that goes missing in the dark

Wanting breaks my heart
Wanting never stops
Wanting breaks my heart
Wanting never stops

Flying, am I stalling?
Like the shallow that comes right before the wave
Going, not returning
The fumes will finally start to dissipate

Wanting breaks my heart
Wanting never stops
Wanting breaks my heart
Wanting never stops
